Join us for our first Open Saturdays session by artist Yaya Xi-Lin Wang hosting: A brief history of colonial plant classification, creative plant-drawing-naming
Come reconnect with plants in a more personal and imaginative way, through grounding practices, shared stories, playful expression through language, sound, movement and a chance to learn about the colonial roots of plant classification. Yaya, visual artist and outdoor facilitator, will be introducing creative approaches to naming and drawing plants, along with a sensory tea-tasting with mystery herbs from the Land. Yaya will also be giving a talk explaining different plant classification systems especially in the context of medical herbalism and plant foods, opening to explorations around visual representation tied to somatics inputs and re-imagining relationship to art-making and the natural world.
Snacks, drinks and books will be available throughout.
